SNEAK PEAK: Urban Decay VICE Lipstick

Holy Smoking Bloody Hell!!!! Urban Decay are revamping their whole lipstick range and introducing 100 shades of which 74 are brand new colours. With Ruby Rose the face of the campaign you know it will be seriously BadAss! The lip lovers are going to have a ball with this one!

I was sent 10 lipsticks by Urban Decay in various formula’s with accompanying lip liners to complete the look.

Urban Decay lippies are enriched with Aloe Vera, Jojoba, Avocado and Babassu Oils to nourish and soften the lips.

Vice lipstick is in a modernized version of UD’s original lipstick case which looked like ‘Shotgun Shell’. The packaging is gorgeous faceted gunmetal case with a gold base and debossed lettering on packaging. The only pain would be finger prints on the packaging, but no one would care about that on a day to day basis.

The smart thing is they have the shade matched labels for ease of finding.

Of the 6 finishes, I have here 4 finishes ranging from Cream, Mega Matte, Comfort Matte and Metallized. The other two are Sheer (a punch of colour with a sheer, shiny finish) and Sheer Shimmer (slightly transparent finish with a floating pearl and a smooth texture).

The lipstick features brand new bullet design, with embossed “UD”. There is something incredibly exciting about unused untouched lipstick bullets (is it only me?!) Moving onto most important thing, Swatches!!!!

Cream –  The original creamy, badass luxury

Top swatches are two swipes, however below vertical swatches are one swipe.

Naked – a beautiful muted rosey pink, perfect for everyday looks. Could also qualify as someone’s MLBB (my lips but better) shade.

Firebird – just as name suggests, bright fuschia pink

Rock Steady – classic neutral red

Mega Matte – Super Intense MatteScreenshot at May 07 12-26-54

Right swatches are two swipes, however left swatches are one swipe and they’re still a decent colour payoff.

714 – Bright blueish undertone red (Just look at Ruby rocking her 714).

Pandemonium – Classic purple shade, check out Ruby’s video on link

Comfort Matte – Creamiest Matte (which it sure is, I would have mistaken it for cream formula)

Top swatches are two swipes, however below vertical swatches are one swipe.

Backtalk – This shade is my perfect MLBB, dusky mauvey pink

Disturbed – Deep creamy maroon, (reminds me of Milani Black Cherry)

Menace – I would call this “The Pink”

Metallized – Cream with a high level of pearl

Top swatches are two swipes, however below vertical swatches are one swipe.

Conspiracy (brown) – Caramel brown

Big Bang (pinkish) – Bright pink with flecks of glitter

Final Line Up and First Impressions

Gorgeous cutesy packaging, with seriously pigmented shades, one swipe delivers decent colour laydown.Once applied, it stains the lips, which again indicates high pigment and fabulous pay off. They’re really creamy and I didn’t experience any pulling, dragging or tugging. Whilst I don’t have all 100 shades, of the 10 shades it appears there is a shade for every age, every colour and every one!

And of course a collection wouldnt be complete without a lip liner to pair with lipsticks.

Swatches from Top to Bottom: Naked, Rush, Conspiracy, Gash, Hex, 714, Jilted, Anarchy and Pandemonium. Here we have one stroke swatches, smooth, soft, pigmented application. Obvs can be used all over lips too in place for lipstick.

Over the course of next few weeks, I will be talking in little bit more in depth about my experience with these lipsticks and lip liners over in my Instagram feed.

L’oreal Cushion Foundation

We’ve seen the trend extend from Asia to Western countries where larger name brands are adopting the cushion foundation or BB cream concept. Lancôme launched the cushion foundation in 11 shades for $47. However now its L’oreal (who owns Lancôme) launched its drugstore version. Lets dive in the review:

L’oreal says: Introducing new True Match™ Lumi Cushion, a liquid foundation infused in an innovative sponge that delivers the perfect amount of makeup. Our luminous refreshing formula creates sheer to medium coverage. Tap a little for a fresh natural glow, tap on more to build a new level of luminous coverage. Liquid foundation + tap on applicator puff gives you convenient on-the-go coverage.

Packaging – The usual Cushion Foundation package, where first layer includes the brand provided sponge applicator and as you open the second layer it’s the cushion/sponge with  liquid  foundation under (no dripping or spilling issues).

Application – Recommended with Sponge, however I’m a brush addict. I tried with both methods and finish is different. Brush tends to leave streaky finish due to the foundation consistency however sponge application pushes the foundation nicely in the skin and allows better blending (except I loathe washing sponges).

Texture & Consistency – on first touch and feel, it feel rather liquidy however it packs a decent pigment.

Coverage – Sheer to Medium Buildable. I generally stop at sheer coverage, however for those who like Medium coverage, this foundation can be buildable and leave a dewy finish on the skin.

Finish – Dewy and Luminuous

Lasting Power – In the current weather situation (winter, low humidity levels), the foundation stayed put for 10 hours on my skin without any touch ups. I had to blot the oil in 4th or 5th hour however that I’d have to do with any foundation. I powder T-zone with Soap & Glory Kick Ass Powder and the whole face stays put.

Suitable Skin Types – L’oreal says suitable for all skin types however I think for oily skin peeps, using a mattifying primer or oil control primer would help the foundation from slipping and sliding.

Skin Shades – available in 12 shades, in Cool, Neutral, and Warm category.

N2 Classic Ivory, N3.5 Classic Beige, N4 Buff BeigeN5.5 Perfect Beige

C3 Creamy Natural, C4 Shell Beige, C5.5 Natural Tan, C8 Cocoa

W2 Light Ivory, W3 Nude Beige, W5.5 Suntan, W8 Creme Cafe

Travel Convenience – The best for travel! No stress about spilling or cracking the glass bottle foundation.

Drawbacks – Unlike Laneige, there are no refills available (yet) with L’oreal Cushion. When you finish this compact, toss this out and buy another one.

Availability & Price – Available in most drugstores and priced at $16.99 (USA). Not sure if this has launched in Boots UK or Priceline Australia.

Aqua / Water / Eau, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate / Dicaprate, Methyl Trimethicone, Dimethicone, Titanium Dioxide, Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone, Glycerin, Lauryl PEG-9 Polydimethylsiloxyethyl Dimethicone, Pentylene Glycol, Butylene Glycol, Trisiloxane, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Magnesium Sulfate, Acrylates / Stearyl Acrylate / Dimethicone Methacrylate Copolymer, Phenoxyethanol, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Lauroyl Lysine, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Ethylhexylglycerin, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Stearic Acid, Alumina, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Lecithin, Isopropyl Myristate, Isostearic Acid, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Adenosine, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Disodium EDTA, Phenylethyl Resorcinol, Tocopherol.

Overall thoughts: For a person like myself who prefers Sheer coverage generally from BB creams, this foundation is a breath of fresh air which is sheer coverage, convenient to travel with, at a good price point and decent shade range. Flip side, wish it was compatible with brushes and had refills to be cost effective & environmentally friendly.

My Thoughts: Becca Jacklyn Hill Highlighter – Champagne Pop

Becca Highlighter

I have loved Becca for its Beach Tints for a while and thought lets check out the new release highlighter. I saw this in pan, tried in store and impulsively bought it. On impulse it looks gorgeous, but thereafter all the problems start. When I returned home🏡, I noticed the glitter is chunkier than I’d prefer. Yes the light catches the highlight beautifully but seems tad excessive to me. Second problem emerged when I glanced at the ingredient listing, which starts off with a problem for my skin: Talc, x, x, Petrolatum, x, x, x, etc. Ermmmmm No.

Yes everyone in Blogosphere seems utterly gaga over this product, its in the rave phase and I don’t know why I fell for this. Generally I prefer to be the spectator to the rave, wait for it to die down and then form my opinion over it. Anyway I’m happily marching it back to Sephora. #thanksbutnothanks
Side note: I still have no idea who Jacklyn Hill is, based on minimal research I found out she is a “YouTube beauty celebrity” (as stated on Sephora site). I will stop talking at this point.

Kiko Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation

P1010079In my recent Kiko Haul, I mentioned this fab foundation Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation. I’ve been using this foundation for lil over a month now and I can safely say I friggin love it!

It comes in an opaque tube with a very runny texture. This foundation is pigmented enough to cover any blemishes or dark spots. However I still prefer to fade them with a concealer. Its coverage (medium to full), finish and buildability makes it a versatile choice for day or evening wear. Either way the finish on skin is very natural due to its ability to blend seamlessly. I apply it with Real Techniques Buffing Brush or plain ol’ fingers.  It doesn’t leave a cakey face with visible lines <ewww> The foundation lasts on me all day without any touch ups.

If you get a chance to visit the Kiko store, I would highly recommend to try it out. They have many shades, precisely 20 shades so it shouldn’t be very hard to find a good match. Kiko claims: Hypoallergenic – formulated to ensure  minimum instance of allergic reactions. Non comedogenic. Fragrance free. Paraben free.

Birchbox – February 2015

Good morning beautiful people 🙂 Ive been away traveling for work and when I return home I find a nice welcome home package waiting for me. Yes its Birchbox time.

P1010100 P1010101

Derma E Anti Wrinkle Vitamin A and Glycolic Scrub – Trialled this last night after a draining and dehydrating flight home, it just gave my skin a boost. Its going to be my travel companion.

Fake Blowout Hair Refresher Dry Shampoo – Loved the fragrance of the dry shampoo, but yet to try it properly.

Not Soap, Radio Body Wash – Yet another body wash, just like any other body wash…..mehhh

Summit Color Contrast Eyeliner (shade teal) – Holy smokes, this liner doesn’t budge or smear at all. Its soft, smooth no need to pull or tug the eye and incredibly pigmented. Need an oil based cleanser to get rid of it. Certainly will purchase black and brown shades of this pencil.

theBalm Read my Lips – Such a lovely peachy coral-ly shade, nicely pigmented, very moisturizing to the lips. Definitely purchasing a full size tube and curious to explore other shades.

Overall this month made up for last months boo-boo. I also love the classy floral print on sides of the box 🙂 Birchbox you made me a very happy gal for the short month of Feb.

Did you receive your boxes, what did you think of them?
