Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colour

Bobbi Brown site says The look of a lipstick meets the feel of a balm for our most wearable lip yet. Loaded with crushed pigments and lip-loving ingredients, it’s the ultimate swipe and go formula. Claims to be Rich in Vitamins E and C and beeswax, the balmy formula glides on comfortably with a satin matte finish that leaves lips hydrated and kissably soft. Plus, it won’t feather or fade for crush-worthy color that lasts all day.

In a range of gorgeous 20 shades, and completely wearable on a daily basis. These genuinely glide on like a balm and deliver like a lipstick. After a few hours it did fade away however slight pigment was left on my lips. Definitely didn’t dry my lips at all – big win.

Bobbi Brown ART STICK LIQUID LIP

The newest launch in the world of liquid lipsticks from Bobbi Brown. Just about when you think I’ve had enough of drying, deathly looking liquid lipsticks, heres comes Bobbi Brown. But unlike most liquid lipsticks, these are different….more on that later.

The brand claims these liquid lipsticks to be super-pigmented, squeezable liquid lipstick. Delivers semi-matte, full-coverage color that’s creamy, moisturizing and lightweight. Plus, the long-wearing formula stays color true for gorgeous all day wear. The 17 shades choices range from nudes, pinks, deep reds and berries to bright and bold shades.

First up, they are residents in 5ml plastic squeezey tubes with click on black plastic cap. The squeezing action took me back to Lancôme Juicy Tubes days….anyone remember those?

The product is dispensed as you squeeze the tube, and the application tip is straight cut plastic to spread the product on lips. No doe foot applicator or sponge for application. Some may say this is difficult to work with, personally I prefer this. It’s easier to dispense product as much as I want and gives a good visual to control how much product is being dispensed. Secondly I like mixing shades, and with this delivery system I feel like mixing oil or water colours on my palette.

Many said that after application the tube looked dirty, felt unhygienic etc since the colour was all over the application tip (see pic below). But to me this is far easier to clean with an alcohol swab than a sponge or doe foot applicator.

Now onto the formula, it is certainly super pigmented, little truly goes a long way. I noticed this was across all shades (nudes to deep reds and brights). However, deep reds and brights were pigmented enough to stain my lips.

Unlike traditional liquid lipsticks these did not feel uncomfortable or mask like on my lips. At one point I forgot I was wearing a lippie. No sickly, deathly looking lips. Much to my surprise it felt moisturizing. Yes after about 4-5 hours I did apply, some lip balm on top however point to note the pigment stayed on the lips. But lipstick or not, I always reapply lip balm as the day progresses.

Given the BAM pigmentation and lightweight feel of this product, I tried some on my cheeks for a pop of colour. Immediately this product reminded me of Bobbi Brown’s Pot Rouge for lips and cheeks. Except the pot rouge gives more sheer dewy finish on my skin while this is proper colour. I think these are great for cheek colour, especially during summer when you don’t want to feel excess layered products on your face. Another point is these are medium to full coverage (I realize this is not a foundation) or should I say stain to full dense opaque lipstick.

Given the versatility, convenience, pigmentation, lightweight formula of this product this would be great for a minimalist on the go or just about anyone. SNEAK PEAK: Urban Decay VICE Lipstick

Holy Smoking Bloody Hell!!!! Urban Decay are revamping their whole lipstick range and introducing 100 shades of which 74 are brand new colours. With Ruby Rose the face of the campaign you know it will be seriously BadAss! The lip lovers are going to have a ball with this one!

I was sent 10 lipsticks by Urban Decay in various formula’s with accompanying lip liners to complete the look.

Urban Decay lippies are enriched with Aloe Vera, Jojoba, Avocado and Babassu Oils to nourish and soften the lips.

Vice lipstick is in a modernized version of UD’s original lipstick case which looked like ‘Shotgun Shell’. The packaging is gorgeous faceted gunmetal case with a gold base and debossed lettering on packaging. The only pain would be finger prints on the packaging, but no one would care about that on a day to day basis.

The smart thing is they have the shade matched labels for ease of finding.

Of the 6 finishes, I have here 4 finishes ranging from Cream, Mega Matte, Comfort Matte and Metallized. The other two are Sheer (a punch of colour with a sheer, shiny finish) and Sheer Shimmer (slightly transparent finish with a floating pearl and a smooth texture).

The lipstick features brand new bullet design, with embossed “UD”. There is something incredibly exciting about unused untouched lipstick bullets (is it only me?!) Moving onto most important thing, Swatches!!!!

Cream –  The original creamy, badass luxury

Naked – a beautiful muted rosey pink, perfect for everyday looks. Could also qualify as someone’s MLBB (my lips but better) shade.

Firebird – just as name suggests, bright fuschia pink

Rock Steady – classic neutral red

Mega Matte – Super Intense Matte

Right swatches are two swipes, however left swatches are one swipe and they’re still a decent colour payoff.

714 – Bright blueish undertone red (Just look at Ruby rocking her 714).

Pandemonium – Classic purple shade, check out Ruby’s video on link

Comfort Matte – Creamiest Matte (which it sure is, I would have mistaken it for cream formula)

Backtalk – This shade is my perfect MLBB, dusky mauvey pink

Disturbed – Deep creamy maroon, (reminds me of Milani Black Cherry)

Menace – I would call this “The Pink”

Metallized – Cream with a high level of pearl

Conspiracy (brown) – Caramel brown

Big Bang (pinkish) – Bright pink with flecks of glitter

Final Line Up and First Impressions

Gorgeous cutesy packaging, with seriously pigmented shades, one swipe delivers decent colour laydown.Once applied, it stains the lips, which again indicates high pigment and fabulous pay off. They’re really creamy and I didn’t experience any pulling, dragging or tugging. Whilst I don’t have all 100 shades, of the 10 shades it appears there is a shade for every age, every colour and every one!

And of course a collection wouldnt be complete without a lip liner to pair with lipsticks.

Swatches from Top to Bottom: Naked, Rush, Conspiracy, Gash, Hex, 714, Jilted, Anarchy and Pandemonium. Here we have one stroke swatches, smooth, soft, pigmented application. Obvs can be used all over lips too in place for lipstick.

2014 EMPTIES

GOOD LORD!!! Where did 2014 go? This is pretty much the same thing I say every year end. Anyway so as I mentioned few months ago, I was gathering most of my empties for 2014 and would do a post on them. So without further ado let’s get started (based on categories).

Andalou Naturals Clemetine Ginger Shower Gel – nice while it lasted.

Dr Bronners Magic Soap – comes in many fragrances and I’ve pretty much tried ‘em all. Always a repurchase.

Forest Essentials Mashobra Honey & Vanilla Shower Wash – got these during our holiday in India and these smell heavenly.

Kiehls Vanilla & Cedarwood – nice but not a repurchase left my skin dry.

L’occitane Amanda Shower Gel – Love & repurchase.

The Body Shop Tropical Oasis Shower Milk (now discontinued) – creamy wash which smells frigging awesome but sadly discontinued.

Yes I’m Eucerin Junkie and so is my husband. One bottle for each quarter.

Dove Nourishing Lotion – this was a holiday emergency purchase, needless to say went back to Eucerin.

Argan Body Crème – this stuff is RIDIC, sold in Spain supermarkets for ‘a Euro’ and smells divine and ultra-nourishing. Waiting for next Spain trip to stock up.

Bath and Body Works Twilight Woods – purely used it for its fragrance period.!

EO Organic Deodorant – purchase from Whole Foods, nice while it lasted.

Bath and Body Works Brown Sugar and Fig Body Splash – simply and purely for fragrance.

Secret Clinical Strength Sport – have repurchased this many times and will continue to do so.

This one is a mixed bag. Somehow I managed not to save my shampoo or conditioners!

Daily Beauty for Wildlife Beach Spray – Yep I will repurchase, once I get through the million products I’m working through.

L’Oreal Everstrong Overnight Hair Repair Treatment – Nope made my hair flat.

Random Samples – Molton Brown conditioner, Lush Hair Doctor – not purchasing any of these.

Jan Marini Bioglycolic Face Cleanser – very affordable glycolic cleanser with slight tingle, repurchase at some point in future.

Priori Gentle Facial Cleanser – expressed my love before, repurchase at some point in future.

Reviva Brighten and Lighten – experiment which was pleasant and will keep this cleanser in mind when I’m seriously broke but don’t want to compromise on results.

Nuxe Comforting Cleansing Milk – love the scent, repurchase at some point in future.

Skin Blossom Gentle Cleansing Milk – nice but won’t repurchase.

For localized spots in addition to La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo, I tried Aesop Control Gel (great product but too pricey for what you get) and Burts Bees Acne Solutions Spot Treatment (no repurchase, except giving a cooling sensation did nothing).

Bioderma Hydrabio Legere – Excellent product, immediate nourishment and have a back up.

Kiko Night Balm – Nice but can’t repurchase till I travel to Europe.
